"The first thing we noticed is that riding around here it's never cold! We've got excellent riding roads back in Scotland, but for only a few months of the year. For us, it was a joy to not have to get all rugged up to go for a ride and it only got better from there. The experience of motorcycling around North Queensland has left us absolutely gob-smacked. The scenery is so incredibly gorgeous, we had to keep stopping all the time to take it all in. The roads are damn addictive too and such a variety. All in all, this has to be the most enjoyable motorbike trip we have ever taken. Biking back home is going to look a bit bleak now. I don't know whether to thank Steve for the ride, or to punch him in the mouth!"

"'The Gillies' is my favourite motorcycling road of all time. It's all my riding dreams unravelled in baking hot and grippy tarmac. As a younger fellow I would have gone up and down this mountain range 'till my tyres gave out, and I completely understand the local 'Gillies Gravel Grinders' lads who jolly well do so!
Then again, I adored heeling the bike through the sweeping curves of the Palmerston Highway. Seems to me the roads out here are all unbelievably fine riding, and with scenery that's utterly jaw-dropping. Thanks to Steve and the crew for a thoroughly, flawlessly brilliant biking holiday. Bring your sunglasses and camera folks!"

Thanks first to Cairns Motorcycle Tours for making it possible for motorcyclists - and pillions - to access this incredible fund of natural beauty and pure riding pleasure. Everywhere I rode, the roads were just about empty. I don't understand this at all. I just cannot concieve of a more beautiful place to ride a motorcyle, period. If this were back in the States, it would be overrun with traffic. I only heard of all this by accident when I was surfing the web, planning my dive trip to the Great Barrier Reef ... but it turned out to be the highlight of the whole vacation. Watch this space.
