FAQ

In presenting this FAQ page we have tried to be as comprehensive as possible, but we are always pleased to answer any questions you may have directly. Just email us on bikes@bikingaustralia.com or 'phone us on 0427 774 285 (In Australia) or (+6142) 7 774 285 (Outside Australia.)

Q: What is included in the tour prices?
A: Everything! All riding
gear (helmets, jackets, gloves), meals & drinks, fuel, and for the safety and comfort of pillion passengers, we supply rider-mounted security handles.

Q: I'd like to ride one of your motorcycles - can I bring a pillion passenger along for the ride?

A: Absolutely! You are most welcome to bring your passenger. All we ask is a minimal rate to cover your passenger's meals, drinks and so on. Further details can be seen on 'The Rides' page, here: http://www.bikingaustralia.com/the_rides.htm

Q: Can I come along for a ride as a pillion passenger?
Most certainly! We welcome pillion passengers, whether novice or experienced. Our professionally-trained riders are on hand to assist in every aspect of your riding enjoyment, from kitting you out with riding gear; familiarising you with safe and comfortable motorcycle pillion riding; and ensuring that you are comfortable at all times. We take your safety and security seriously, which is why we always provide the option for passengers to use rider-mounted security handles. Please see more about our chauffeured rides, here: http://www.bikingaustralia.com/the_rides.htm#chauf

Q: Do you guys hire bikes on a straight hire/ 'dry hire' basis?
Sure, and we also offer Self-Guided Rides; individually tailored to your tastes and guided unerringly by state-of-the-art GPS systems.
Those who are familiar with the region, however, may prefer to simply go for a rental deal.

Q: What's the deal with guided tours/rides? What are the advantages?
Our rides are typically group rides of no more than four bikes, led by a guide. There are many upsides to this:

Variety:  An advantage of small group touring is the bonus of being able to switch from one bike to another. If, as the old saying goes, 'a change is as good as a rest', in this case the fun of a riding holiday is multiplied by a wide variety of bikes to ride.

Safety & Security: We brief you on the prevailing road conditions, and the unique challenges and potential hazards on Tropical North Queensland roads. We are on hand to offer assistance on any aspect of riding and the peculiarities of each motorcycle, and of course we are on hand to offer immediate assistance in the event of any bike problems or unforeseen 'human factor' problems!

Interpretation: We are experienced local motorcyclists with an intimate knowledge of Tropical North Queensland and as such, we help you to better understand and appreciate the natural environment you are riding through.

Sociability: Touring in small groups is FUN! It's relaxed, intimate, convivial and enjoyable. Our shared interest in motorcycling makes for a great ice-breaker at the lunch/dinner table, leading in to conversations about other riding spots around the world as well as a multiplicity of other topics. Motorcyclists of all persuasions tend to be interesting, thoughtful and adventurous souls, with a well-developed thirst for life's great passions. 'Water finds its own level' as the saying goes, and indeed we have always found socialising with other riders to be a highlight of any trip.

A Quality Experience, Every Time: We show you the best roads, best food, and most stunning natural nooks. There's no getting lost or wasting time or riding on dead-end, drab roads. We know your riding time is valuable, and we are on hand to make sure you have the best possible time.

Q:Can I ride at my own pace, and stop when and where I want to?
A: Absolutely! There is absolutely no need to ride at a faster or slower pace than you feel comfortable with. Riding groups meet at comfortable and convivial rendezvous places, leaving room for everyone to ride at their own pace, and to stop for photos or for any other reason, en route.

Q:
Are the suggested riding routes and timetables flexible, i.e. is it OK to blaze new trails and customise our own rides?
A: Now you're definitely talking our language! We love to put together customised rides; threading together the most scenic and involving roads to the destinations of your preference. We enjoy catering to special-interest groups, i.e. birders and indeed we frequently tailor rides to take in special-interest sites along the way. Please feel free to discuss your riding preferences with us via email or 'phone: bikes@bikingaustralia.com or Telephone (In Australia): 0427 774 285
